Ayyoub is the arabic name for the prophet Job. Traditional Egyptian 2/4 rhythm. The name is supposed to have come from a radio show in Cairo. It is a religious beat used in dance and to ward off evil spirits. It can be commonly heard as a fast pace beat in modern belly dance music. The repetitive nature of the beat gives this rhythm a trance like atmosphere, which is why it is used by the sufi dervishes. It is a driving rhythm that usually goes faster and faster.
